Everything about my work has evolved over the last 15 years. I was initially using stoneware, making pinch pots and coiling – often incorporating coloured slips and glazes.
The combination of craftmanship, innovation, ingenuity and a passion about my work has inspired me to develop my own personal style reflecting my love of the sea.
Today, I enjoy the texture and smoothness of porcelain. Its transparency illuminates the individual colours of the stained clay, which are amalgamated into every piece.
Each bowl is thrown on a wheel then turned and delicately carved by hand.
I use a traditional technique developed in the 17th century which I have adapted using my own unique and contemporary style.
Although I have control over the depth and colour of every item, each bowl cannot be formulated precisely and therefore, takes on a random pattern making them totally individual.
No two bowls are identical – each one is unique!
