Why Moonart?

MoonartI’m often asked why I have called my site Moonart. Well, like most artists, I tend to become very focussed (some might say obsessive) when I am in the ‘zone’ and creating something I really like. Moments like these are very precious to me and any distractions can break my flow.

The problem is….I am also very sociable, and I have a great circle of friends whose company I really enjoy.

Therein, lies the problem.

When we are out ‘on the town’ I sometimes make an excuse to leave early – so I can sneak home and finish off something in my workshop. My friends would often tease me by saying: “so you prefer to do some ‘Mouna Art’ to spending time with us?”.

On the (increasingly) frequent occasions when I was (fashionably) late, and one of the girls would ask another where I was, their reply would often be: “oh she’s still locked away in the garage creating her Mouna Art!”

Over time the term evolved – the ‘a’ got dropped and Moonart was born. I liked it and it has now become reality.

Sorry girls!!
